A friend informed me today it was popular belief that Rock music was somehow better and 'higher" than pop.He quoted Paris Hilton to substantiate his claim.

Some people like Vanilla and some like strawberry, few others prefer vanilla on top of strawberry and vice versa. There is no god damn reason they have to suggest Vanilla is better than Strawberry or vice versa...

I don't know about Rock and pop music. But, I agree with Titash about the Vanilla-Strawberry matter...
Well, about the limited intellect of this friend... You can hardly blame him.. he follows the crowd.
Remember how the crowd in Julius Caesar swinged it's support from Brutus to Antony.. and that too without veryfying Antony's claims.
So, crowd-mindedness would probably be the right word...
To Titash,
I prefer Vanilla and Strawberry stuffed together in one cone... ( as is the case of Rock and Pop)

Well, most people think that because rock music (even if you agree or not) tends to have better lyrical quality than pop. But then, I am generalizing here.

i don't know about "higher" kind of music...but rock music surely gives me a better "high"
